A Proactive & Structured Approach to Recovery

Our counselling services offer you a proactive and structured approach to recovery which incorporates meditation and a mindfulness based cognitive technique. We use meditation and mindfulness in a number of ways :

As a relaxation technique which reduces stress and anxiety levels
As a foundation to develop mindfulness/awareness skills.
To learn how not to attach to, or empower, unhelpful or negative thoughts which create panic, anxiety and unnecessary stress.
How your various fears and emotional and physical reactions are being created by the way you think.
How low self esteem issues can also impact and create anxiety and/or stress
How your thoughts about yourself and the way you interact with other people may also be generating anxiety, panic or stress.
How perfectionist behaviours impacts on your life.
How the need to be 'all things to all people' creates anxiety and/or stress.
How set backs happen
How you can learn from set backs while working through them

As  mindfulness skills develop, you will  learn to see the various thought patterns that lead to suffering and distress. These thought patterns obscure and cloud perceptions, and lead to living reactively,  rather than proactively.  Mindfulness allows you to step back and  take control over your thinking - and your life !

We have been using and teaching these techniques to other people for over fifteen years. In fact we were the first  in Australia to use mindfulness as a cognitive technique for anxiety disorders.

Meditation and mindfulness are the central components of Bronwyn's Australian and New Zealand Mental Health Award Winning Programs and Workshops.

The Programs and Workshop were evaluated as part of the Australian Federal Government's Mental Health Strategy. This evaluation was done by Associate Professor Julian Hafner, Dibden Research Centre, Sth Australian Mental Health Services.  The evaluation demonstrated the effectiveness of the programs and workshops and as a result they won a major Australian and New Zealand Mental Health Award.

Over 300 people who experienced an Anxiety Disorder participated in the Evaluation. Participants in the study showed a significant decrease in symptoms at a 3 month follow up.

We have also been using meditation and mindfulness  in our counselling, and telephone counselling for many years.

Mindfulness as a cognitive technique is now being demonstrated internationally as an effective treatment option for many different disorders and health problems, including anxiety disorders and depression. You can learn to make it work for you
